Important! NSD Class of 2024 Messaging

The following communication was sent to comprehensive high school Class of 2024 families on Friday, April 5, 2024:

Dear Class of 2024 and their Families,

2024 Graduations are just around the corner. This communication is to share the following: graduation requirements, graduation dates for each comprehensive high school, guest logistics and support, and changes to student academic honors. 

Graduation Requirements

The 2024 commencement ceremony will include all students who have met the graduation requirements established by the Northshore School District in School Board Policy 2410 and the State of Washington. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on this major achievement!

School Graduation Dates and Times

The 2024 commencement ceremonies for Northshore’s four comprehensive high schools will take place at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell on the following dates:

Monday, June 17, 2024

Bothell High School 1:00 p.m.

North Creek High School 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 18, 2024

Woodinville High School 1:00 p.m.

Inglemoor High School 6:00 p.m.

Commencement Ceremony Tickets

Entrance tickets are required for every guest. Children under age 2 sitting on laps are free. Each graduate will receive five free tickets. Each additional ticket is $7 and will be available to purchase in advance through your high school. Watch for your high school’s graduation guide, which will be available later this spring, to learn more about ticket availability. If the additional cost presents a barrier to attendance, graduates should contact their counselor to arrange for additional tickets at no cost. Commencement ceremonies will be live streamed as well, with closed captioning available. Translated closed captions will be available 24 hours after the live stream for families who would benefit from this service. More information about live streaming will be provided on this webpage as the dates approach.

Graduate/Attendee Guidelines and Safety Protocols

Over several months, principals and staff members from all four comprehensive high schools collaboratively planned this special day to honor our graduates. Every graduate who plans to participate in this year’s commencement ceremony, and every attendee, will be expected to follow the standards as set forth by the Northshore School District and each high school’s administration to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. 

We understand this is an exciting time for our graduates, as well as those who have supported them in reaching this milestone. In honor of the Class of 2024 and everyone in attendance at the commencement ceremony:

●      Please remain seated and quiet throughout the ceremony.

●      Anyone causing disruptions will be asked to leave.

●      Balloons, noisemakers, air horns, beach balls, and other distracting items are strictly prohibited.

●      High heels are NOT allowed on the field or the track, but wedge sandals and flat shoes are permitted.

●      Designated photo areas on the field will be available for your group and graduate to take pictures after the ceremony.

●      Photos will not be allowed to be taken on the graduation stage.

We want to remind you that creating the best possible experience for every graduate and attendee includes making safety a priority.

●      Weapons are strictly prohibited on District property per RCW 9.41.280. Also, no alcoholic beverages or glass containers for liquids will be allowed.

●      Please be aware of emergency exits. Maps are posted around the stadium. In the event of an emergency, listen to announcements for directions.

Arrival and Parking for Pop Keeney Stadium

Gates open 45 minutes prior to each school’s ceremony. Due to the large number of anticipated attendees, please note the following information for arriving and parking at Pop Keeney Stadium, 9809 NE 188th St., Bothell:

●      The best route to approach the stadium parking lot is Eastbound on 188^th as there will be no left turns from Westbound.

●      Parking will be limited. Please consider carpooling.

●      Pop Keeney Stadium has entrance ramps on the south side of the stadium that allow for wheelchair accessibility. The first few rows of attendee seating in the bleachers, and designated areas on the field, have been reserved for those with limited mobility. If you would like to reserve seating in these areas, please complete this survey so we can plan accordingly.

●      Tailgating will not be allowed.

Ceremony Information Translated

Graduation programs will be printed in English and distributed at the event in person. In addition, prior to your school’s graduation ceremony, families will receive an email about the ceremony order and speakers through ParentSquare. This step ensures all families can follow along and understand the ceremony details in their preferred language, as ParentSquare automatically translates messages for families. High school graduation is a significant event in the lives of our students, and we want all of our families to be able to enjoy the experience.

Graduating with Latin Honors

Starting with the Class of 2023, Northshore’s comprehensive high schools adopted the Latin terms to celebrate high-achieving students as follows:

●      Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors):  top 5% of GPAs

●      Magna Cum Laude (with high honors):  top 6-15% of GPAs

●      Cum Laude (with honors): top 16-30% of GPAs

Graduating seniors will be honored based on GPA as shown above. This new tradition will continue with the Class of 2024 and will replace the previous tradition of naming valedictorians and salutatorians. Much like in the past with valedictorians and salutatorians, students receiving Latin honors will be recognized during graduation ceremonies, assemblies, and/or other recognition programs. By refining our recognitions, our high schools are aligning with systems used in higher education while also giving deserved recognition to additional high-achieving students.

Your school will send a message detailing what to expect in the days and weeks leading up to your commencement ceremony, as well as the day of the ceremony. If you have questions about your 2024 commencement ceremony, please contact your school.

PREVIOUS INFORMATION Class of 2024: Jostens Commencement Announcement Order Distribution, Wed, 3/27, Commons, Both Lunches Jostens will be at WHS on Wednesday, March 27 during both lunches and after school until 3:50 p.m. in the Main Office Foyer to distribute Commencement announcements that were ordered by seniors and/or their parent/guardian in the fall.  Please note fines and fees must be paid or cleared to pick up the items.  If a senior is unable to attend, a friend or relative can pick up the items; however, a signed note from the parent/guardian must be provided to Jostens. The individual picking up the items will be required to sign for them, relieving Jostens of responsibility if the item(s) should become lost or misplaced. Items not picked up March 27, will be available on Thursday, March 28 at the same location. Questions? SAT School-Day Testing Information (Wednesday, October 11)

The SAT School Day exam is scheduled for WHS seniors on Wednesday, October 11 (during the school day at WHS). 

Registration Deadlines:

• Registration window is from Wednesday, August 30 through Friday, September 29 (no late registration after September 29) for WHS October 11 SAT School Day. 
• To register, please create an account using the link below (if you have not created one previously).
• Then click on Woodinville High School to register and pay the $60 exam fee online no later than September 29.

Important Yearbook Information & Updates

Below are some very important key dates and information regarding Yearbooks:

• Senior Grad Ads are on sale through the Publisher's website through Friday, December 15th. For more information, please click here (please use a computer as not all functions work on a phone).
• Please make sure your preferred name is solidified by Tuesday, November 14th. Please reach out to your counselor to complete the paperwork to have your preferred name in the Yearbook.

Graduation Pathway Requirement: ELA & Math

Class of 2024! If you have taken the SAT or ACT, submit your score report to your counselor to determine if your ELA and/or math graduation pathway requirement was met through the exam.

Unofficial Transcripts!

Class of 2024 seniors who were at WHS in the 2022-23 school year can access unofficial transcripts through StudentVUE! Go to your StudentVUE account and check out the documents tab on the left-hand side. Once you click on documents, you will be able to see a link to your most current “Unofficial Transcript”.

For an official transcript, a Consent to Release Student Records form must be submitted per the instructions on the form.
