ATTENDANCE

Hybrid/Remote Learning Attendance

Student attendance is taken every class period during Distance Learning.

Fully Remote Learning:

  • Teachers will be taking attendance during each period.
  • Students are required to attend the entire live Zoom lessons for each period to be considered present.
  • If a student is unable to attend the live zoom, a parent needs to contact the Attendance Office via email at whsattendance@nsd.org to excuse their student from class. The student needs to follow up with their teacher via email, zoom, Schoology, etc. to receive the work they missed.
  • If a student was marked absent in error, they need to reach out to the teacher of record to request the absence to be cleared.

Hybrid Learning:

  • Teachers will be taking attendance during each period.
  • Students are required to attend the entire in-person lesson for each period to be considered present.

During in-person learning, we will NOT be using late arrival/early dismissal passes, so please make sure students follow the following procedures for late arrivals and early dismissals:

  • Late Arrival for in-person learning: If a student is going to arrive late to school for in-person learning, please have a parent/guardian contact the Attendance Office via email at whsattendance@nsd.org or call 425-408-7410 to excuse their students late arrival.
    • The student will need to make sure they complete the late arrival sign in that will be located right outside the Main Office in the foyer area. This will be a QR code for students to scan and fill out.
  • Early Dismissal for in-person learning: If a student needs to leave early for early dismissal, a parent/guardian must contact the Attendance Office at whsattendance@nsd.org AND email the teacher of the class that the student needs to leave early from, stating what time and why the student needs to leave early.  Please send this email the night before, so staff have time to get through their emails the following morning.
    • Prior to the student leaving campus, the student will need to complete the early dismissal sign out sheet, which will be located right outside the Main Office in the foyer area. This will be a QR code for students to scan and fill out.
  • If your student is scheduled to be on campus for in-person learning, but cannot attend, please notify the Attendance Office AND your students’ teachers that they either:

  1. Will not be in class, but will be attending remotely via Zoom or

  2. Will not be in class and will not be attending remotely via Zoom
  • If students are scheduled to be on campus for in-person learning and do not show up, but log in via zoom, the student will be marked absent until a parent contacts the Attendance Office.
  • If a student was marked absent in error, they need to reach out to the teacher of record to request the absence to be cleared.
  • Early Release Wednesdays - With respect to attendance, the only students marked absent are those who did not show up for a pre-scheduled Wednesday learning activity/scheduled meeting.

Student Success & What Parents Can Do to Help

Woodinville High School wants your student to be successful! Parents and guardians can help their student by promoting and encouraging regular, punctual attendance.

Every effort will be made to record attendance notifications received by 2:30 PM throughout the school week. Notifications received after 2:30 PM will be recorded the next school day. Parents and guardians can view attendance by logging in to ParentVUE.

What parents can do to help...

Certain attendance practices completed throughout the school year by parents/guardians and students greatly help their son or daughter and themselves as they near the end of the grading period and face attendance appeals:

  • Parents/guardians contacting the Attendance Office at whsattendance@nsd.org within two school days of any absences and indicate the reason for the absence.
  • Maintaining a record of absences and the reasons on a calendar throughout the school year.
  • Providing doctor's notes for medical, dental or orthodontic visits as they happen during the school year.

Following up immediately when a student has been absent is important and helpful to all parties.

For a complete copy of WHS's attendance policy refer to page 19 of your student's copy of the 2020-21 Student Handbook.

We are here to help! Please contact the Attendance Office at whsattendance@nsd.org if you have any questions about our policy or your student's attendance.
