2020-21 SPORTS (UPDATED on August 5, 2020)
Northshore School District Message Regarding Additional WIAA Modification of 2020-21 Sports Season Calendar
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) announced another addition to the modified schedule for the 2020-21 school year. Leagues were given a choice to make the original Season 1 sports a Season 3 sport. The athletic directors from the KingCo conference met and agreed that this would be best for our communities. The KingCo conference appealed to the WIAA to make this move and we were approved. All Season 1 (fall) sports are now Season 3 sports.
Please see the changes below as they could impact family plans and schedules. This could also impact sports physicals that may now expire during the new season dates.
SEASON 2: December 28 – February 27
Boys Swim and Dive
SEASON 3: March 1 – May 1

These dates are very different and will affect many sports in ways we haven’t experienced in the past. For example, there will be two holidays that the teams will need to practice through; mid-winter break, February 15-19, for Season 2 and spring break, April 12-16, for Season 3. Season 4 will go through June 26 which will be a challenge around graduation activities.
Spring break and Season 3 will be the biggest difference for these sports as we will have practices and regular season games during this time. Depending on the sport, there may also be post season play to allow time to qualify for State events.
There are still many details that need to be worked out in regard to these activities and how they can be implemented in each county and in each district. It is important to us to get these dates to you so you can start to plan as a family which sports you will be looking to participate in. As we get more information, we will share it with our communities to help you better prepare for the 2020-21 school year.
