This is my second year at WHS, and I couldn't be more excited to be here! I have been with the Northshore School District for several years now and am truly honored to be a part of Woodinville Falcon Family! I will be teaching Freshman Pre-AP English as well as 11th Grade English, and I absolutely love what I do!
I am a graduate of the UW, and have been teaching for many years now!
I love to write! it is a passion of mine. in fact I finished my first book, and am currently collaborating with a writer/editor to complete edits and revisions. It has been a long work in progress, but I can truly say that "writing is not writing, it's re-writing!"
I have three grown daughters, and am married to my HS sweetheart!
I appreciate words and ideas as well as the warmth of a hearty conversation. I believe in thinking outside of the box, because our kids are going to have to live outside of them. Creativity, communication, and critical thinking embody the paradigm shift for this next generation. It is our job, as educators, to equip our students with the necessary skills to thrive in that paradigm.
One of my favorite quotes is from Antoine De Saint Exupery, in fact it exemplifies my pedagogy:
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”
